Wife Beating In Islam??? Part 2

Last year, I wrote a blog which suggested that Surah 4:34 of the Holy Qur'an was mistranslated into English. This mistranslation allowed men to beat their wives. In my blog, I showed that beating or striking your wife due to her ill-behavior was the incorrect understanding of the verse. The Arabic word can mean to "beat" or to "separate." In the context of the verse in this chapter, the proper translation was to "separate." I also stated that Muslims need to get together and have this translation changed to avoid further confusion. Fortunately, an author by the name of Yahiya Emerick had the same sentiment in mind. He has printed three English Qur'ans,"The Holy Qur'an: Guidance for Life," "The Holy Qur'an in Today's English," and "A Journey through the Holy Qur'an," with the translation as "separate from your wife" instead of "beat your wife." I am sure that he did not read my blog, but it is as the Holy Qur'an says "truth stands out clear from falsehood." I am extremely happy that these Qur'an's are available to the public.
