What Are the Rights of Wife in Islam?
It is important for a man to respect his wife. This can be done in a number of ways. One way is by not disrespecting her in public. Another is by teaching her respect with words and actions. This will keep the relationship healthy and prevent fitnah. The next way is to make her feel comfortable and satisfied in the marriage. This will make the relationship much more fulfilling.
Respecting a woman over a man
According to Islam, women are not equal to men, and men should respect women. However, this does not mean that men should disrespect women. The Prophet Muhammad has a high regard for his wife, Khadijah. This reverence for Khadijah does not translate to respect for all women. It is also important to remember that Allah does not have a body or gender. Therefore, the Arabic language assigns genderless nouns to males, a signal that males are superior to females.
Respecting her religious beliefs
According to Islam, there are essential differences between men and women, based on their creation, capacities, access to guidance, and rewards in the Hereafter. Women, on the other hand, are considered weak, inferior, and intellectually and spiritually lacking, which makes it extremely important for men to provide for their wives. This financial support is called nafaqah and is mandatory during the marriage and after divorce.
Respecting her financial rights
One of the most important aspects of a Muslim marriage is respecting a wife’s financial rights. According to Islam, the husband is responsible for providing for his family, so he must respect his wife’s needs and share his wealth. The Prophet Muhammad said that a man is the guardian of his wife and family, so he should fulfill them and respect their financial rights.
Islam lays down a clear set of rights for women, and this includes the right to share in a man’s wealth, assets, and property. Islam guarantees that a woman is the legal heir of her husband’s property during his lifetime, and after his death. Islam also requires a man to respect a woman’s sexual desires. Islam states that fulfilling a woman’s needs is the number one goal of marriage.
Islam also ensures that a man gives his wife a financial gift at the time of marriage. The Quran tells us to give financial gifts to our wives with humility and grace.
Respecting her spiritual equality with a man
In Islam, the equality between a man and a woman is based on spirituality and righteous work, not physical attributes. While men and women share the same rights in Islam, their roles and responsibilities are different in society. Men have more obligations to family members and other responsibilities than women.
According to Islam, a man and a woman have equal spiritual and moral duties, although women do have certain concessions based on their pious qualities. A woman is also allowed to have a role in Jihad, which is a holy war in Allah’s cause. The Quran explicitly states this in verses 3:195 and 4:124.
